Galle one day excursion

This old city, known for the Galle fort, was founded by Portuguese colonists in the 16th century. The architecture and the colourful streets reflect the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British rules. Classic architecture melds with a dramatic tropical setting to create a reality that is endlessly interesting. Galle Lighthouse stands on the fort’s southeast tip. Galle is an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Itinerary:

The full day tour in the southwest coast starts from Colombo / Airport, where bhsrilanka taxi driver picks you up at 7:00 am.

The first stop will be at the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, a place that protects injured sea turtles.

Enjoy a boat ride at Madu river, a 1.5-hour river safari.

After lunch, continue on to the wonderful old city of Galle, where you can stroll along the Dutch-built Galle Fort and to the Galle Lighthouse. The Dutch Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today the historic Fort area is full of little boutiques, shops, cafes and restaurants.

At 6.30 pm, leave from Galle and return to Colombo.
